Gurudwara Shri Sadabarat Sahib, Ropar

 

GURUDWARA SHRI SADABARAT SAHIB is situated on the Ropar-Kiratpur Sahib Road in Distt City Ropar.

  • SHRI GURU HARGOBIND SINGH JI came here while coming back from Daroli Bhai ki. GURU SAHIB started the practice of langars at various places and did many of the good things for the benefit of people living in Doaba. Second time SHRI GURU HARGOBIND SAHIB JI came here after winning the battle of Mehraj, Distt Bathinda. GURU SAHIB was going towards Kiratpur Sahib.
  • SHRI GURU HARKARISHAN JI came here while going towards Delhi, he stayed first at this place. Lot of people came to have glimpse of GURU SAHIB.
  • SHRI GURU TEGBAHADUR JI stayed here while going towards and coming back from Bihar-Assam.
  • SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI came here while coming from Bihar. Later SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI came here many times while going from and coming back to SHRI ANANDPUR SAHIB. Except GURU SAHIB's MATA GUJRI JI, MATA SUNDAR KAUR JI and MATA SAHIB KAUR JI also visited this place.

Earlier, the name of this place was Gurugarh Sahib. The service for this place was organized by Raja Bhup Singh Ji of Ropar. Along with this, he started a 24-hour langar (community kitchen) here, due to which the place came to be known as Sadabarat Sahib.
