Gurdwara Sri Shaheed Ganj Sahib, Dale Chak
The village of Dale Chak, located in District Gurdaspur, is blessed by the presence of SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI’s holy feet. A Muslim named Abdul Rehman lived in this village. When he found out that an elderly woman named Kirari in the village was a devout follower of SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI and offered butter daily in his name, he, in his arrogance, scolded the woman, claiming that no one could be greater than him.
Hearing the woman's prayer, GURU NANAK SAHIB, along with Bhai Mardana Ji and Bhai Ajite Randhawa, came to this place. GURU SAHIB sent Bhai Mardana Ji to deliver a message to the woman. Abdul Rehman, too, heard of GURU SAHIB’s arrival, and in his arrogance and anger, went to confront him. However, upon having a vision of GURU SAHIB, his heart was purified. The butter brought by Mata Ji was enjoyed by GURU SAHIB, Bhai Mardana Ji, and Bhai Ajite Randhawa.
Around 1924-25, some mischief-makers among the local Muslims stole a copy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from the village Gurdwara and desecrated it by tearing it apart at this location. The sangat (devotees) recovered the torn scripture, performed its cremation rites, and buried the ashes here. After this incident, the place became known as Shaheed Ganj Sahib.
