Gurdwara Shri Singh Shaheedan Sahib is situated in Mohali Punjab.
Dhan Dhan Amar Shaheed Jathedar Baba Hanuman Singh Ji was born to Mata Harnam Kaur Ji and father Garja Singh Ji Bath on 18 Maghar 1755, in Narang Singh Wala, District Firozpur. After the martyrdom of Akali Phoola Singh Ji in 1823, Baba Hanuman Singh was appointed as the Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Sahib. Following the death of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, when the Dogras Gulab Singh, Mishr Singh, Lal Singh, and Tej Singh sided with the British, Maharani Jind Kaur wrote a letter to Sardar Sham Singh Attari, the great general of the Sikh Panth. In response, Baba Ji mobilized 32,000 Sikhs for the battlefield.
At Mudki and Ferozshah, fierce battles ensued between the Sikhs and the British. The Sikhs killed more than 10,000 British soldiers in these encounters, marking the first battle of the Sikh Empire against the British rule. The Nihang Singhs of the Budha Dal advanced toward Patiala, where Raja Karam Singh of Patiala had abandoned his Sikh principles and allied with the British. He launched an attack on the Singhs with cannons, causing around 15,000 Sikhs to be martyred. Despite this, the forces pushed forward towards Ghudam.
During the battle of Ghudam against the British, Baba Ji was hit by a cannonball, leaving him gravely wounded. Still, he continued to face the enemy and eventually reached Sohana village via Rajpura. It was there, with thousands of Singhs, that Baba Hanuman Singh Ji attained martyrdom. At the time of his martyrdom, Baba Ji was 90 years old.
